"Scottish Textiles have so much history, diversity and are world renowned!"
Through this North to South Event offered by the Fair Isle Textile Workshop you are invited to stay at Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott to indulge yourself in luxury surroundings and absorb textile knowledge and practices including Shetland Lace, Fair Isle and its knitting, Taatit Bed Rugs, Hand-Spinning and other traditional wool processes.
Tutors are travelling south from Shetland Wool Week with the expertise and material resources to provide a unique hands-on experience.
Daily textile workshops
During the five days, 15th to 20th October 2019, we will also visit weaving and cashmere mills and places of historic textile interest in the Scottish Borders. Enjoy local food, folklore and appreciate some of Scotland’s beautiful landscape as captured by Scott and Turner in the Romantic era.
Scottish Textiles continue to evolve and innovate and there will be a special guest lecturer from Herriot Watt and the University of the Highlands and Islands visiting us.
